-How do we address the modern cap on the length of what we read? Twitter character limits make it feel like we don’t want, or can’t read things of any depth. Are we making this true because that is what rules are in place, or is it truly the preference of everyone and Twitter just capitalized on some underlying human nature? Reddit and Facebook allow longer posts, but it seems like no one really wants to read anything that gets too lengthy. Is it a physiological trick because there is content above and below that are begging for you to move on? If we just simply add a physical action to turn the page, so to speak, would that make it feel more acceptable to read something longer with more depth and detail? I think of it like being forced to retell the story of Romeo and Juliet (basically the building blocks of a ton of different stories), but you can only do it within a limited frame. So you are forced to remove your unique spin and depth, and the stories start to become monotonous because they are all more obviously the same. I think podcasts becoming more preferred over the talking heads news cycle, shows that we can appreciate more depth, but then how do we adapt that to our daily scrolling, non audio, feeds?
