Travel Adventures: Life is too short to explore everywhere, but might as well see as much as we can while we can. I am particularly fond of trail running, and have really enjoyed the Ragnar relay races.
Blog Series: Not a great writer, but I understand the importance of the process, and I can appreciate the ability to look back at my thoughts through time. Plus ChatGPT exists now, and has been fascinating to explore and play with.
Donate to Dan: I suspect that I fall on the Autism spectrum, and likely have ADHD. I think this is why I have found peace, and a degree of self medication, in being a Jack of all trades. I do a bit of W2 work for The Slope and Best Buy seasonally, and some soccer reffing, but primarily survive on being self employed. I love the control of my schedule and am deeply fulfilled with the services I provide my communities. Sometimes my body wishes I had more desk work to do, and it sucks not having paid vacation and sick leave. Not to mention the absurdity of health insurance. All that said, I would still like more hours available to help some of my community members that can’t afford the help. If you can afford to donate time, money, materials, or tools please contact me. I hope to eventually build a landing page that has specifics on managing projects and the donations to make them run.
My other goals include growing an apprentice program to help me with all the Good Neighbor projects, and I have been having great success partnering with Wild Flower Community school. I get to host my own class whenever I can find time. It ends up being a mix of building and wood crafts, as well as games and PE activities. I can tell the kids absolutely love every bit of time I can give them. I have even had some chances to take students with me to a fence build project I was in the middle of. Very much looking forward to the continued growth and shape of this partnership.
An inevitable side effect of my community stewardship work, is the continuous collection of household items and furniture. It seems that everytime someone needs my help with a truck and trailer, half the contents end up in my care. Sometimes we need to refinish and repair stuff at the shop, but a lot of time I just need to create a regular outlet to sell it all. I have had some luck taking trailer loads to the school, and they host regular rummage sales to help fund the school. I would love to get a process created for an eBay store, or a physical thrift store. Somehow tie in a storefront area for the wood crafts. We also have good collection of toy trains, coins, baseball, Pokemon, and Magic the Gathering trading cards. It would be fun to create a regular game night, and have a card shop that I could set up for the kids too.
